SAVOUR THE MOST SOPHISTICATED SIDE OF ALENTEJO

When you enter the restaurant of the Pousada do Crato, the most impressive thing are the windows overlooking the gardens and pool. When you have the menu and go through the room with your eyes, the immense stone wall of the monastery, built with wood into the new wing, won't cease to amaze you. There are two bars: an indoor one, in the old monk cafeteria, with a piano where you can play and help make the atmosphere even more magical. Below the cafeteria is the tank that provided water to the monastery in every seasons. In the summer, the pool bar is perfect with its range of light meals and snacks you don't have to interrupt your peace of mind for nothing.

Be sure to ask the dish-star of the house, the Iberian pork with esparregado and casadinhos from Alentejo. The soft flesh and exudes the typical aroma of ground pepper! Of course you can change the side dishes, but worth a try this version. Travel with the unique flavor of green coriander broth, goat cheese rolling, the bowl of pork with potato crumbs with tomato and sausage, and bass with cauliflower migas. Any of these dishes can lead you to interrupt the conversation to better enjoy what you asked.

Finish your meal with one of the variants of the typical sweet of the region: the tecolameco. A treat made with almond flour, eggs, sugar, and royal icing, which can be tasted in the form of a cake, cupcake or ice cream. A culinary experience as monumental as the space in which it is lived.
