DAY 01 LISBON
Arrival in Lisbon (flight not included) where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Overnight
DAY 02 LISBON
Breakfast and pickup at your hotel. A morning tour today to the suburb of Belem, where you will visit the Torre de Belem, the Jeronimos Monastery and the Monument to the Discoveries. A gourmet highlight today is a stop at the famous “Casa Pasteis de Belem” to sample a delicious ‘pastel de nata’ or Portuguese custard tart. Your driver & guide will then take you to the Castelo San Jorge for a tour with spectacular views from the hilltop. Services end after the tour. It is a pleasant and interesting walk down through the Alfama Quarter to central Lisbon. Afternoon free. Overnight.
DAY 03 LISBON – SINTRA – CASCAIS - LISBON
Breakfast. Today enjoy an excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage listed city of Sintra. Sintra's stunning setting on the north slopes of the granite Serra, among wooded ravines and fresh water springs, made it a favorite summer retreat for the kings of Portugal. The tall conical chimneys of the Palacio Nacional de Sintra and the fabulous Palacio da Pena are unmistakable landmarks. On your tour, you will visit one or two of these beautiful palaces and enjoy strolling the pretty cobbled streets of the old town, Sintra Vila and perhaps sample queijadas, the local sweet pastry. Continue to Cascais where you will have free time for lunch on your own and a visit. Return to Lisbon. Overnight.
DAY 04 LISBON – PORTO by train
Breakfast and transfer on your own to the train station for your Alfa Pendular train (first class train tickets included) north to Porto. Arrival and transfer on your own to your hotel for check-in. The present city of Porto occupies the site of the Roman town of Portus, sprawling down the long, steep north bank of the Douro, 6km from the sea. Tonight, you will be picked up at your hotel by the professional driver to enjoy a Fado dinner and show with wine (included). Return to hotel on your own. Overnight.
DAY 05 PORTO
Breakfast. A full day to explore on your own the sights of the city at leisure. The heart of the city is the wide, grass-lined, Av dos Aliados, which runs five blocks inland from the river. All of the sights lie south of this landmark. Overnight.
DAY 06 PORTO – DOURO VALLEY – PORTO
Breakfast. An excursion today to the beautiful Douro Valley. Home to the first demarcated wine region in the world, the steep hills of the valley are lined with vines and famous port estates. Your will first stop is in charming Amarante where you will visit the S. Gonçalo Church and historical center. Departure towards Meso Frio, with a stop to appreciate the view of the Douro River before continuing to Peso da Regua for a visit and wine tasting at the lovely Quinta da Pacheca. Free time for lunch. After lunch, we will visit Pinhão a small town 25km east of Peso da Regua, famous for its quality port-wine production followed by a short visit to Vila Real's historical center. Arrival back in Oporto. Overnight.
DAY 07 PORTO
Breakfast and farewell the city as you are transferred to the airport for your flight (not included) out of Porto
