Begin the journey with the couvert, which consists of sea salt, flavored butters, olive oil and olives with various breads to go with. The three courses of amuses-bouche are included in the couvert and are a daily surprise despite maintaining their traditional roots, which have a strong connection to this land and, in this particular case, the sea. It could be a shrimp patty cooked to order or a fresh and surprising salmon and coriander mayonnaise.

Whether in winter by the fireplace, or in summer by the poolside, the bar always has a treat to go with your tea or coffee. Try the almond biscuits or locust cake made at the inn. Ask for more decaf or teas, just to taste the sweet surprises that the kitchen has in store for you.

Nothing that will keep you from enjoying a beautiful starter, be it a rich fish soup or a leek brás, the most famous starters in Sagres, surprising both for the lightness of texture and consistency of flavors. The tuna, mackerel, and Algarve style squids are also an option. Better ask for a tasting of the snacks, to sample the best of what there is to offer.

As for the meals, despite the absolutely delicious meat options, fish are the main guests on this flavour trip that always comes back to the origins of everything: the sea. The cataplana and the octopus - with rice or Lagareiro style, accompanied by the famous sweet potato - are the most popular. Of course the traditional coast fish, grilled in Portuguese style, is also featured in the menu.

If you have a preference for meat, don't miss the pork tenderloin with sweet potatoes, and if you are a vegetarian there are several options, both in the menu and by request, which will surprise you. Be sure to mention this fact when making your reservation for lunch or dinner.

And the Algarve sweets find their way to the table, whether through the dessert buffet in the summer or by ordering the perfect conclusion for your meal from out menu. The locust bean and orange pies are not to be missed, the Algarve Morgado is divine, but the locust bean mousse with pink pepper and fig crumble, created by the inn, is absolutely memorable. Like all desserts - and breakfast cakes - they are made at the Pousada, this is a trip you will not want to miss.
