Description
A HISTORIC VACATION IN THE EAGLE'S NEST
Come spend a few days in Marvão, the village where you can see the eagles fly down the slopes. Set on a granite massif, Pousada de Santa Maria is surrounded by peace, tranquility and beauty which will inspire a unique and absolutely original stay.
Overlooking Spain and the Serra da Estrela region, Pousada de Marvão is perched between restored white houses, giving visitors the feeling of living above the clouds - as it is often covered in fog - and of staying in the only real space in many miles. This typical inn features two lit fireplaces, with the crackle of aromatic wood burning. And on the outside, a paradise for ornithology lovers, with several birdwatching routes. The location is equally charming in the summer, with days of unlimited visibility providing absolutely memorable images.
LOCATION
Travel back in time and let yourself be won over by the imposing mass of granite rocks on which this village lies, seemingly oblivious to the movement of the outside world. Cruise through the magnificent road connecting Castelo de Vide - also worth a visit - and Marvão, and marvel at the landscape and the trees that line the road.

SCENIC MEALS FROM ALENTEJO
The view from the restaurant windows is imposing and majestic, making it hard to look at the menu and focus on your choice: there are several typical regional dishes worthy of your attention.
To fully recharge your energy after a day of sightseeing, the Pousada's bar is the perfect place for a cup of tea or hot chocolate in the winter, or for a cool drink and a snack in the summer; always pleasant, cozy and, above all, scenic.
Delight in the olives, olive oil and salt flower couvert, and be sure to taste some of our snacks: veal rolls, breaded green beans and sausage-stuffed mushrooms are just some of the appetizers you can taste.
Have a taste of North Alentejo cuisine, try our most iconic dishes: the 14-seasonings partridge with orange basket and chips, and the Santa Maria cod.
Finally, don't forget to try our typical vinegar sweet. The name may not sound very appealing, but the end result is very surprising and original In the Pousada de Marvão's restaurant you can enjoy the delicacies of the regional cuisine while appreciating a fantastic Portuguese wine.
