Welcome to the Convent of Our Lady of Grace, the Historical Pousada of Tavira which made use and rebuilt the location of the sixteenth-century convent in order to offer you a pleasant, unique and absolutely memorable stay, while offering you access to the warmest and widest beaches in Portugal.
To get to the Tavira Pousada, you'll have a first encounter with the narrow streets which are appealing for long walks, and the centrality of the space will allow you to make the most of the historic town center. The bright yellow building of the convent, in contrast to the almost permanent blue sky, is unmistakable. This is where you will spend a few days to rest.

BREAD AND JUICE IN AGOSTINHOS, GASTRONOMIC EMBASSY IN THE DAYS OF TODAY
The restaurant and breakfast area is in the former cafeteria of the convent and it has a view to the garden. Although the pulpit no longer exists to remind religious readings during meal time, there are moments of deep communion with the local gastronomy. The privilege to taste some of the best culinary references of the Algarve in this space will be a reason to give thanks.
The bar is very comfortable, with swimming pool service during the summer and overlooking the old but very well preserved Almóada neighborhood, discovered during the restoration works of the convent, it is the ideal place to catch up on reading, drinking a cocktail and watch time go by, or to confront someone in a chess battle to the checkmate.
Start the experience with a couvert where locally extracted fleur de sel deserves tasting, among olive oil, garlic butter, olives and butter.
Continue by tasting horse mackerel "alimado" style, "griseus à algarvia", "tiborna" codfish and fried onions and tuna "muxama" (the famous ham from the sea) with toasted almonds. Or risk everything and try one of Algarve's traditional flavors, such as stuffed figs and goat cheese, a surprising and deliciously indulgent mix. Save room for the main course: the Alhada streak, cuttlefish and shrimp bean stew, Lagareiro octopus, chicken bread soup served in bread and the casseroles are the house's ex libris, all dishes recommended by the chef with strong local roots, where the ingredients are worked in the most original, but respectful of the tradition possible way. The seafood tasting, which must be requested 24 hours in advance to ensure that the seafood comes fresh from the auction to your table. It is a memorable experience, ideal for a celebration dinner that deserves a truly special dish .
End your meal with an amazing and fresh orange pudding with homemade honey ice cream, with a unique and compact slice of carob and fig tart, with a typical morgadinho of Algarve or a delicious Tavira "D. Rodrigo". A sweet note to end an unforgettable meal.
